These fears typically manifest in playing it safe and doing nothing at all, or at best, in clumsy, ineffective attempts at approach. The all too common outcome of repeated failures leaves many men feeling defective and unlovable. For the majority of my life, I was one of these guys.

These girl talk posts usually happen organically when I am going through something personal and I want to share my thoughts with you guys. I recently had a dating experience that had me feeling really messed up. I consider myself to be pretty tough but even the toughest person gets knocked down every once in awhile. Instead of letting what happen keep me down, I decided to use the experience as a lesson.
I did everything I could to make her happy. I tried to solve her problems. I tried to be a good father to her children. I tried to be a better man than the other men in her past. I tried to be the best lover she had ever had. I put her needs ahead of mine. In spite of everything I did for her, it never seemed enough. I could never seem to make her happy.
The Nice Guy Syndrome
A nice guy is an informal term for an often young adult male who portrays himself with characteristics such as being agreeable , gentle , compassionate , sensitive and vulnerable. When used negatively, a nice guy implies a male who is unassertive or otherwise non-masculine. It is also often used particularly in the context of dating  to describe someone who pretends to possess “nice guy” characteristics and uses acts of friendship and basic social etiquette with the unstated aim of progressing to a romantic or sexual relationship.
The results of the research on romantic perception of “nice guys” are mixed and often inconsistent.
